SMBC wanted to update their employees’ devices from Blackberry to iPhones, giving their team access to the latest applications on the move and driving productivity. However, migrating almost 200 employees to a completely new device type, operating system and user experience, securely and without disrupting day-to-day activity, was a major challenge.
CWSI began by designing and deploying an Enterprise Mobility Management platform (MobileIron) to manage enrolment of the new Apple iOS devices, configure the security settings and manage distribution of the key business applications used by SMBC’s employees.
Once this foundation was in place, CWSI managed the migration process from end-to-end. The first part of the puzzle involved the preparation and logistics for the new devices. All devices were un-packed, prepared and re-packed by our expert operational teams. Preparation included the management of the carrier SIM cards, Apple’s Device Enrolment Programme (DEP).
Getting to grips with brand new technology can be daunting and SMBC wanted to ensure that their employees, who had been long term Blackberry users, were fully supported throughout the migration process. SMBC’s key objectives were to maintain productivity throughout the migration and ensure a great experience for their employees.
Comprehensive training and handholding were vital to the success of the project. CWSI delivered on-site introductory training for all employees and put in place a floor-walking team of ‘gurus’ to assist employees with any aspect of their adoption of the new technology. From helping users to set-up fingerprint authentication, to checking Wi-Fi connectivity, to testing access to key applications – within just one day all employees were fully trained on how to get the most out of SMBC’s investment in new technology and were immediately operational and productive.
Thanks to the new solution, a combination of iOS devices and MobileIron’s Enterprise Mobility Management platform, SMBC’s employees have secure access to all the key business applications they need from their mobile devices and the IT team can easily manage the upgrade and deployment of applications and control access.
Thanks to the fully managed deployment and comprehensive training provided by CWSI, employee feedback has been extremely positive, and all employees have actively adopted the new technology. The technical build and back-end platform migration was completed within just 5 days, with all employees successfully enrolled into the new solution and productively using the new tools within just one business day.
